Project Overview

For my Production Design Model Making class at SCAD, the project was to choose a scene from any form of media and create a miniature color model of something from that scene.

I chose to do my favorite setting from the book The Ballad of Never After by Stephanie Garber, which is The Hollow/Inn for Travelers and Adventurers. I love this book with all my heart, and creating the setting where all my favorite moments of the book happen was incredibly enjoyable! This was also my first color model, so I wanted it to be something truly special.

Here you will see my 1/4” = 1’ scale color model of this space, focusing primarily on the exterior. I only had the map in the book as reference and descriptions that read “canopy of gorgeous green,” “rooftop was covered in enormous cheery mushrooms with red caps,” and “there were flowers, so large they were the size of small children.”

Project Duration: March 2022 (3 weeks)

My Role

I am the concept designer, draftswoman, and model maker for this project. I conceptualized the idea of making a setting in the book, The Ballad of Never After by Stephanie Garber, into a physical miniature color model.
